Stumbled over to Bourbon Street over on the UWS the other night and happened to be impressed. I’ve had the unfortunate chance of being at this bar on a Friday night and being shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of Columbia kids, but on a week night, this bar was simply a late evening Happy Hour pleasure. Arriving to the bar after 7:30 p.m., my dodgeball team and I were able to comfortably grab a table and still score drink deals from the bar (a big deal considering half the bars in Manhattan only offer drink specials if you sit at the bar or you’ll pay for it by ordering drinks from a waitress). Drinks until 8 p.m. were a “buy one get one” special, with Bud Lights a typical NYC $5, and Blue Moons $6.50. If you party after 9 p.m. on a Thursday, beers are 50 cents, at 11 p.m. rise to a dollar, and are $2 from 1 am to close. Not up for partying on a worknight? Beers are still only 50 cents on Friday nights from 9-11 p.m. Seeing how our next dodgeball game is at 7:30, I anticipate we’ll be enjoying 50 cent beers this Thursday.
