My dad wanted to take “the girl that writes the blog” out to dinner one night during his vacation, and I was more than happy to set that dinner date up. Laura and I met up with my dad at Murphy’s first for a beer (if you dine with Bill, you need to meet [...] Last week Doug and I went out to lunch to celebrate a co-worker’s birthday. Yes, it’s sad that only two of us showed up, but it’s not terribly surprising. If it was Tonic surely Larry would have joined, maybe even Tim. But in honor of Milos‘ affinity for ethnic food, and Doug’s fear of [...] Okay, maybe it’s not the most authentic sounding name for a Chinatown dumpling restaurant, but after reading several reviews about how about how Vanessa’s Dumpling House served up some of the best tasting and least expensive dumplings in town, I had to check it out. So after wandering through the East Village and LES [...] Using my trusty City Shuffle Diner’s Deck, I decided to check out a Mexican place in the West Village that I heard about from Foote, a former co-worker. He swore that Diablo Royale was one of the best Mexican places in the city, so I had to see if it lived up to the [...] My sister and I needed to find a quick place to grab a bite before she headed to Penn Station to catch a train, so I suggested trying the new sandwich shop Defonte’s of Brooklyn. It just opened up on 21st and 3rd, so it couldn’t be closer to me. Technically it doesn’t open [...] Spent Saturday evening celebrating my friend’s birthday at Churrascaria Plataforma in Hell’s Kitchen - and literally, the aftermath of the experience may have been hell.
