World Yacht is hosting a very fun and seasonal event on Saturday, September 18th - New York’s First Annual Oktoberfest on the Hudson! On the first day of Germany’s Oktoberfest, World Yacht’s Pier 81 will be transformed into a beer garden with authentic German beers such as Gaffel Kolsch, Hofbrau, Jever, Radeberger and Weihenstephan on tap, and Weihenstephan Korbinian, Weihenstephan Vitus, and Augustiner Maximator by the bottle. Party along to the music of the German Oompah Band and eat traditional German foods like sausages, several varieties of Bratwursts, giant Bavarian pretzels, and other German-inspired food.
If sitting near the water seems to just be a tease, then consider the optional one-hour cruise that will depart at 2 pm. You’ll continue drinking while getting views of George Washington Bridge, Riverside Park and Riverside Church.
I love the water/boats, beer and all (eh, most) things German (6 years of German class will do that to you), so this sounds like an awesome event to me! The German-American Steuben Parade, popchips, NYC Daily Deals, and Street Sweets will also be sponsoring this event, and tickets to the party on the pier cost $10 and tickets for the cruise are $15 (they can be purchased here or call 212-630-8100). You’ll be able to buy all the food and drink you want via food tickets which will be sold at $4 a pop. Prost!
