I really wanted to settle in last Tuesday with a big cheese pizza and Home Alone, but when I saw there was a new Thai place in the neighborhood, I couldn’t help but try it. FUSE is a new Japanese/Thai spot here in Murray Hill on 2nd Ave between 34th and 35th. Unfortunately, I can’t report in on how the atmosphere of the restaurant is, but for takeout it was pretty good.
We started the meal with some spring rolls - 5 spring rolls for $5. Spring rolls were good, and the sweet and sour sauce that accompanied it was great.
If you’ve been reading this blog, you know I went with the pad thai ($9.50). I was a little concerned that the dish wasn’t going to have any tofu in it because it wasn’t listed on the menu, so when I asked that they toss a little in there, the staff suggested I go half tofu/half chicken at no extra charge. For those of you who enjoy tofu - no worries, the dish comes with it regardless, but it was nice to be able to make a combination of the two. The pad thai wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was delicious and had the perfect amount of peanuts sprinkled onto it. It was certainly large enough that I was able to make two meals out of it. I know I’m a girl, but for you guys out there, my roommate was also able to make two meals out of his spicy basil noodle, so clearly the portions were large.
If you want to check out FUSE, I suggest trying it this week. You’ll receive 15% off your bill through today (the 28th) and 10% off (Dec 29th - Jan 4th) on all delivery and take out orders.
