I love salads for lunch, but I have found my problem in NYC is the price you have to pay for a decent salad. Head over to any lunch spot, and you’ll find yourself paying per topping or visiting the dreaded weight scale. I don’t know about you, but forking up $7.25 for a salad at Europa that consists of egg whites, shrimp, mozzerella and tomatos is almost unacceptable.
Luckily, my lunch buddy Tim introduced me to Tasty today. Located on 30th and Madison (and there is an UWS location too), Tasty has a selection of sandwiches, breakfast items and salads. For $6.95 for a small salad or $7.95 for a large, you can get a choice of a “meat”, such as shrimp or chicken, a choice of three premium toppings, such as bacon, avocado or mozzerella, and then an unlimited amount of regular salad toppings, like roasted red peppers or tomatos. The selection of toppings is extensive and even includes hard boiled eggs and pasta salad. I loaded up my salad, grabbed a complimentary roll and butter on my way out the door and for a grand total of $7.55 (with tax), had an incredible lunch.
Tasty also has what I love - the frequent buyer card. Purchase 10 salads or sandwiches, and you’ll get your next one free. When it comes to going out for a salad at lunch, you can bet I’ll be visiting Tasty.
The Basics Name: Tasty Location: 126 Madison Ave (between 30-31st) and on 71st and Broadway Who to take: Self, co-workers Price: Typical NYC (for lunch). $$. Overall: Put it in the rotation. 4 Stars.

Check out Sergios on Park Ave, as well. $6.45 for a salad is hard to beat.
BTW, the famous Jacob Ramos introduced us all to Tasty.
It gives me a laugh to think that Tim found such a place. Do they serve tasty treats, as well?
