Today is the 9th anniversary for Cafecito, a Cuban restaurant on 11th St. and Avenue C. They’ll be celebrating with $5 sandwiches (apparently some of the best Cuban sandwiches in the city!), $9 entrees and $5 drinks from 11 am – 6pm. A live band will come on at 7 pm and the $5 drink specials will [...] This Wednesday from 12-4pm, plan on taking a lunch.  Cafecito, a Cuban restaurant located on C and 12th,  is offering a Courtesy of Yelp free tasting of Ropa Vieja (Cuban style beef stew that takes five – six hours to prepare, made with pulled flank steak, fresh peppers, onions, plum tomatoes, freshly ground [...] Last week, Caryn (thoughts in italics) and I were invited to dine at Favela Cubana, serving up both Brazilian and Cuban cuisine (not fusion).  Located in Greenwich Village, this restaurant surprisingly is set back so far off the street that it reminded me of the a strip mall in the ‘burbs.  Favela Cubana has a [...] I really respect that the East Village Cuban restaurant Carteles is offering a deal for local, neighborhood residents.  According to Eater, now through April 1, prove you live in the neighborhood by showing your license or mail, and you’ll get a sandwich and chips for $5.  Carteles is located on 6th Street between 1st and Ave [...] Last week, my co-worker Alicia suggested that we visit Tina’s Cuban Cuisine after reading about it in Time Out New York’s Cheap Eats Issue.  I’ve tried Cuban cuisine in the past, and was not a big fan, but figured I’d give it one more try before I crossed it off my list.  Our co-worker [...] |
