Buy a Drink, Get a Pizza

I’m a recent postgrad on a tight budget so I’m constantly on the look out for good deals and cheap meals. Crocodile Lounge in the East Village out does itself daily by by offering a free personal pizza with every single drink purchase. That’s a 24/7 offer which basically means you can treat yourself to a drink and dinner (or after bar snack) for $5.
And I got an even better deal by going during happy hour. My beer was only $3. Now the pizza isn’t great quality and it probably couldn’t even beat Digiorno in a taste test contest. But an 8 (small) slice pizza for $3…I really can’t complain. The biggest problem I had during happy hour was that it was really crowded and finding a place to actually eat your pizza was a problem. But after giving the evil eye to a few people at the bar who weren’t drinking or eating, I finally found a seat.
You won’t be surprised to hear Crocodile Lounge is somewhat of a dive bar. The lights are low and it’s probably for the best. It’s the kinda place that I think would be pretty disappointing (and most likely disgusting) if the lights were actually on. But I appreciated the low lighting since I was stuffing my face with pizza. You don’t finish off a pizza in five minutes flat by eating like a lady.
Once your down getting your fill of drinks and pizza, you can head to any of the bars along 14th.
Laura’s note: Â We love the Crocodile Lounge too – even though I do have a friend who has screamed at the pizza guys, “I don’t get your business model!” Â The 14th Street location also has a great little patio in the back during the warm summer months and also has skee-ball and photo hunt if you want to play some games while unwinding. Â Don’t want to be in a crowded bar? Â Check out Crocodile Lounge’s cousin Alligator Lounge, which offers the same deal and is location off the L (Lorimer stop) in Brooklyn. Â While drinking at both locations, you’ll get tickets every time you order a beer to redeem for pizza. Â Not hungry? Keep the tickets. Â I have been known to go back to the bar late night to redeem my tickets for pizza – sans drink. Â Don’t judge.

That’s a cool offer, I would love to buy 50 drinks if I am getting a free pizza.
