I'm a young professional living in Astoria (formerly of Williamsburg, the UES and Murray Hill - I move a lot!). I'm always looking for something fun to do or the best place to grab a drink and dinner at an affordable price around the city. Have a suggestion? Email me at Laura AT 89thandbroke DOT com.

Deal Alert! BOGO Admission at Brooklyn Museum!

Editor’s note:  We just learned from one of our readers, Susan, that this museum actually offers suggested admission (shows you how much we get to BK sometimes).  So, basically, that means you pay what you want, as long as you don’t feel guilty about it.  Looking for other museums with suggested admission?  Check out the Natural History Museum or the Metropolitan Museum of Art (I actually had a roommate once who would just give a few cents every time he visited).  If the guilt gets you, then use this deal below.

I feel like everyone I know is rushing to use their vacation days before the year ends.  If you have some time off and are looking for something to do with a friend, check out the Brooklyn Museum.  Through the end of the month, all you have to do is show your Metrocard, and you’ll receive buy one get one admission.  One of the current exhibits, Who Shot Rock & Roll, showcases different photographs of some great musicians.  This exhibit, combined with the admission deal, might be worth the trip to BK!

This is not the deal. The Brooklyn museum is always a suggested admission. Translation – you can pay half (or as little as you like) any time if you don’t mind the dirty looks.
