89th And Broke

I'm a young professional living in Astoria (formerly of Williamsburg, the UES and Murray Hill - I move a lot!). I'm always looking for something fun to do or the best place to grab a drink and dinner at an affordable price around the city. Have a suggestion? Email me at Laura AT 89thandbroke DOT com.

Coming Up! Brother Jimmy’s Anniversary Party with Free Food – PLUS Giveaway!

EDITOR’S NOTE: JULIA (#3) IS OUR WINNER!

Tuesday marks the 5th anniversary of Brother Jimmy’s in Murray Hill on Lexington and 31st and to celebrate, they are giving out FREE food from 4-7pm on Tuesday, August 20. Brother Jimmy’s Backyard BBQ Block Party will feature free concession stands to anyone passing by with enough food to feed over 1,000 people. Brother Jimmy’s BBQ fans will be able to enjoy a cotton candy and popcorn machine along with some signature dining favorites such as Frickles, 500 Pulled Chicken Sliders, 150lbs of Rib Tips, Cole Slaw, Corn on the Cob and refreshing home brewed iced tea and lemonade.   A BBQ Block Party would not be complete without a whole hog smoking right alongside the sidewalk so Executive Chef Eva Pesantez will be serving up the whole hog into over 1,000 signature Brother Jimmy’s BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches.

Now the good news for you guys (bad news for me), is I can’t make the anniversary party right after the BBQ because my friends and I made plans to use our beer passes that night. So…I’m sending one lucky reader to the party that night with a guest. Party starts at 8pm on Tuesday, and we’ll send you all the details. It includes free food and drinks!

HOW TO ENTER

Since this is Brother Jimmy’s 5th anniversary, comment on this post with your favorite BBQ item by 11:59pm Sunday night. We’ll pick one lucky winner.
