Just like last year, almost all of my holiday shopping was done online. And since I live in a little walk-up apartment in Queens, nine times out of ten, I ship packages to
my office.
But what about those packages that MUST be shipped to the billing address or you accidentally sent to your home thanks to auto-checkout? Or what if you don’t have an office to ship stuff to? The last thing you want is shipping something to your apartment, finding one of those UPS slips at your door, and then having to go on a wild goose chase for your gift. True story: 5 years ago, I had a pair of pants delivered to my Brooklyn apartment according to UPS, but I never actually received them…
That’s why I think one of the greatest inventions is UPS My Choice. Whenever you get a package headed to you via UPS, you get alerted if you want to sign for it in-person or sign electronically and have the package left at your door. If you live in a safe apartment, this is a great option. If you don’t live in a super safe area and are worried about your packages being stolen, you can reroute your package for a fee.
If you shop a ton online, there is even a premium version that will allow unlimited rerouting of your packages for $40. For those just shopping this holiday season like myself, I personally think the free version is fine for me – or at the very least, a great way to try out the service!
