89th And Broke

I'm a young professional living in Astoria (formerly of Williamsburg, the UES and Murray Hill - I move a lot!). I'm always looking for something fun to do or the best place to grab a drink and dinner at an affordable price around the city. Have a suggestion? Email me at Laura AT 89thandbroke DOT com.

Try This Trick! I’m Loving LevelUp!

A few months ago, I told you about LevelUp  - and I’m loving it.  LevelUp is an iPhone/Android app, where you sync your debit/credit card to the app and you receive a unique QSR code. When at a participating merchant, you can pay simply by scanning your phone.  There are incentive to scan while using your phone – some restaurants will give you $1 to $4 off, just by paying via phone.  And at the end of the day, you are still getting points on your credit card – so double win. I also noticed the more you use LevelUp, the more credits you get – so if you spend $50 over time, you’ll receive a $5 credit.

I’ve been using LevelUp whenever I go to Tasty, my favorite salad place. I got $2 off just for using it at Tasty the first time, and every time I spend $50 (on anything – breakfast, salad, soup), I get $5 back. Best part – I don’t have to take a purse or wallet with me when I go to lunch, and there are so many places in the neighborhood offering rewards as well – like $2 off. And if you have a problem with LevelUp, the customer service folks there are REALLY REALLY nice – my friend forgot to use a promo code, and they rewarded her account anyways after she signed up.

If you want to give LevelUp a try, please use my referral code – it’ll automatically give you a $5 credit. You’ll want to enter the code when you sign up into the promo code box. My code is TOQSMD.
