Last night, my friends Al and Dave wanted to catch up, and what a better place to eat and chat with the boys then a BBQ spot. Â Dave had heard about Georgia’s Eastside BBQ on the LES, and we decided to give it a shot.
The place was empty when we walked in and consisted of a few tables or you can dine against the wall.  The place  is no frills – no bathroom and unfortunately for us, no AC – but the food and service was great.  The waitress was friendly, and provided recommendations on what to order. For $19, I ordered a 3/4 rack of ribs, and with that came two sides.  There were a list of regular sides, but for $2 more each, I could spring for specialty sides.  I went with the special sides menu, and added on mac and cheese and hush puppies.
The food was excellent. Â Ribs were falling off the bone, and I kept dipping them into the BBQ sauce – I liked that the sauce was on the side so
it was less of a mess. Hush puppies were served with maple syrup. They weren’t my favorite hush puppies in the entire world, but a nice change of pace. Â I think next time though, I’d try the potato salad. Â I also tried the mac and cheese which was solid – wasn’t overly cheesy and I didn’t feel super full after eating it (which is a good thing).
The boys finished their portions, but I went home with half my ribs and mac and cheese and the hush puppies. Â Between my meal, special sides, two beers and tax and tip, grand total came to $35. Â We heard from other patrons that the desserts are fabulous, but I just had no room left to try them.
In addition to trying desserts, I’d love to come back for happy hour. From 3-5 pm, you can score $5 BBQ sandwiches and $2 PBRs, Monday – Friday.
Was Georgia’s Eastside BBQ as good as Dinosaur? No, but I didn’t have to travel nearly as far and the portions and the price were on par when it all came down to it in the end. Â We all agreed we’d return to Georgia’s Eastside BBQ, but only after the weather drops below 60 degrees and we won’t notice the lack of AC.
