Mardi Gras is here, and this weekend, you can participate in a Mardi Gras Bar Stroll on Saturday from 1-9pm. Hosted between the 40s and
Bar Crawl Fun in 2008
50s on 2nd Ave, there are 8 bars that will be participating in this stroll.
If you’ve never done a bar crawl in the past, typically you pay an entrance fee (which is $10 with 2 canned goods, $15 without), and then you’ll receive discounted drinks and food all afternoon. You can also buy tickets in advance, but the price goes up as the date gets closer. Â For example, currently tickets are $9, but with the code 89TH , you’ll get $3 off advance tickets – so $6 to the event instead of $15. Tickets can be picked up at TG Whitney’s on 53rd and 2nd.
With your ticket, you’ll receive the following at each participating bar:
- $2 Draft Pints
- $4 Authentic Rum Hurricanes
- Shot Specials incl. jager/car bombs, tequila and kamikazes
- Food Specials incl. burgers, wings, and quesadillas
- FREE Souvenir Pint Cup (first 1,000 registrants)
- Tons of Mardi Gras Beads and Giveaways!
But in true 89th and Broke fashion, two lucky readers will win FOUR tickets. Â We’ll also be giving away a p air of tickets via Twitter.
How to Enter

Hi I love your site as always, while no changes are necessary I have two ideas: 1. I’m a die hard chocoholic so any deals on candy or chocolate, especially anything gourmet, would be appreciated. 2. I really like your restaurant reviews so more of those would be great too. Thanks!
I love your blog! I wouldn’t change much! Maybe just a grouping of Brunch Deals and daily specials around the city, clickable on the left side. But from one frugal 20 something gal to another, I appreciate this blog so much! Thanks!
I love these bar crawls!! I have two very minor suggestions! One is to maybe rename the “daily food finds” posts, because…sometimes they include non-food things. Totally not a big deal but I am very type A, haha. Also, when you post about freebies such as a bar having one hour of a free specialty drink or stuff like that, do you mind posting links to where you heard about it? Sometimes I want to try these things out but I like to read about it in more than one place because it makes me feel like the deal is “real.” It makes me nervous if I can’t find info about it anywhere else on the internet. Does that make sense? Anyway I seriously love the site though, thanks so much! =)
agree with the other ladies – luv the site & wouldn’t change much! i luv the restaurant/brunch reviews so more of those would be great! also – more of both of your fav deals would be great. not sure the last time the “favorites” list was updated so that’d be great to have a more up to date list. thanks!

My only suggestion would be a list of deals by day? Or a list of boozy brunch places/BYOB places? I love your restaurant reviews, I just wish they were easier to find when I’m looking for something specific.
While the website is great information wise it can come off as busy with all of it being displayed on the side panels at once. What I would do is create a drop down for the side info IE Blog Roll, Deals, Archives. So that when you hover your mouse over the bolded topic the information drops down. This would create a much cleaner website all in all. But again I do love the website and content, and damn do I love a good bar crawl

Update your ladies’ favorites section, I feel like it hasn’t changed since I started reading the blog!
as a writer, i always notice when the copy is too wordy. sometimes you can get a little wordy and i’d prefer you being more concise. also sometimes the photos or graphics are distracting in the emails and/or put in a weird place that chops a sentence in two and just makes it a little confusing. i’ve never been to a pub crawl and since i’m laidoff and have not found a job in 2 years, i would love to get the tickets to be able to in my own way, feel like i’m taking my 3 friends and myself out for an afternoon of booze. nothing says love amongst friends more than that! LOL otherwise just keep as you are. it’s a great site and super helpful. wait one more thing, could you put that list of additional bargains and special offers that’s always at the bottom, just please move that up to the top so we can peruse that BEFORE seeing your highlighted offers with the oft misplaced graphics as i mentioned earlier. thanks!
