A year ago, my old roommate Al and I saw a Yelp Deal for Club A Steakhouse. For $80, we saw that we’d get a three course dinner plus a bottle of wine, so we figured we’d buy it and use it together.  Needless to say, it took about 11 months for us to get around to use it, and I kept seeing Club A Steakhouse offer deals on LivingSocial repeatedly.  I was worried about going to dinner, since I thought that the food must just be okay – after all, was there a reason they were constantly running deals?
Not to cut to the chase, but Club A Steakhouse was a phenomenal dining experience. Â First off, service was great. No one snubbed us when we let them know we were using a deal. Â I’m not sure if you’ve experienced what I’d call the Restaurant Week backlash, where you get ignored because you are scoring a deal, but our waiter definitely kept checking on us to make sure everything was going smoothly.
Secondly, the portions exceeded my expectations. I assumed going into the meal, I’d get an appetizer, entree and dessert plus wine. Â Little did I know I’d also get full-size sides with our entree, a caprese salad and a ravioli with crab meat, plus a generous bread basket. Â By the time my steak came, I could barely fit anything else into my stomach, and had to wrap my entire meal to go home – which, thanks to my old roomie for letting me take home the sides, I was able to turn my leftovers into two delicious lunches.
To put it simply, the food was delicious. To start, Al got bacon, while I went with fried calamari. Â We shared between the two of us and the calamari was my favorite of the two. Â With our appetizer, we also got mozzarella and tomato, a caprese salad if you will, drizzled in balsamic vinegar. Â It was refreshing paired against our hot appetizers. Â As we headed into our entrees, I received a ravioli, with some crab meat, in a cream sauce that was fabulous – I’d love a bigger plate of this and have it as an appetizer or standalone dish.
For our entrees, I went with the 10 oz filet.  The steak, ordered medium rare, was good, but could have been a little bit more juicy. With our entrees, we could order two full-size sides (one side each), so we split creamed spinach and the mac and cheese.  Both were great, and the mac and cheese wasn’t too overly cheesy, perfect because then it wasn’t super heavy. By the time dessert came, I was stuffed. We got the tiramisu and profiteroles, and I have to say, that despite having about a bite of each, I’d recommend the tiramisu.
If you can’t tell, I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Club A Steakhouse. If you happen to see a deal on a group buying site – and trust us, we’ll certainly tell you – I’d recommend buying it – you won’t be disappointed. Â Also, if you don’t want to wait for a group deal, and would like to check it out, join Club A’s email list, and you’ll get a $15 gift certificate.
The Basics Name: Club A Steakhouse Location: 240 E 58th between 2nd and 3rd Who to Bring: Date Price: $$$$$ With tip plus my half of the deal, it cost me $60 Overall: 5 Stars. Fabulous experience.Â

I’m happy you enjoyed Club A; however, and I hate to be the one to say this, my experience there differed: the steak was dry and way too salty for my taste. If I go to a steakhouse, it’s for the steak so I don’t remember what else I ate. Bottom line: with the kind of deal you had I’d say go for it, but at full price I pass. Sorry for the rare negativity, I still love your site.
I’ve gone to Club A twice (both with deals) and had great experiences both times!
