Wondering where to go out tonight? Consider Idle Hands Bar, located on Avenue B between 3rd and 2nd. Â I visited this bar, which is located underground below Billy Hurricane’s a few weeks back for a work event and fell in love with it for three main reasons:
- Beer and bourbon. Â While I’m not a bourbon drinker, I’m a beer drinker, and this bar has an extensive list of beers
(as well as bourbons). You are’t going to be choosing between a Miller Light, a Bud Light and a Coors Light. Â Instead, you’ll find a ton of beers that you have never heard of before..which brings me to point number 2.. - I loved the staff. Â The owner, Marc, was bartending for us that night, and was phenomenal at making beer selections for us. Â See, my problem is a big beer menu can sometimes intimidate me and I won’t know what to order. Â Usually I’m too embarrassed to ask a bartender, but Marc was super friendly, so I said that I normally drink Blue Moon, and while I wanted a different beer, wanted something that tasted similar. Â He gave me 4 different beers to try throughout the course of the night, always remembering what I had before, and excited to hear my thoughts about each beer.
- The specials are awesome. Two for one drinks are available until 8, Monday – Thursday and on Friday – Sunday until 9pm. Also, on Mondays, you can get a free mini burger from That Burger Tent from 7-10 pm with a purchase of a drink of $5 of more. Now, I’ve sampled these burgers, and they were DELICIOUS. Â The meat’s blend of spices made me want a full burger, not a mini burger. The burger was simple – onions, jalapenos, and cheese – but I could crush about 5 of them, they were that good. Â Lastly, if you use Foursquare, you get a free beer or Powers shot every time you check in!
