If you are looking to go out for lunch down in Soho, it can be pretty pricey. Fortunately, my office has discovered Peep Thai, and it has become our go-to whenever we welcome new employees to the office.
For those on a budget, Peep offers a phenomenal lunch special that cannot be beat. For $7, you can get an appetizer and an entree. This is valid on takeout and dine-in. Better yet, this isn’t a limited menu – you can get more than 16 different entrees and about 9 or so appetizer choices.
Usually when I go, I get the chicken-shrimp dumplings to start. You’ll get about 4 dumplings
covered in soy sauce. Last time I went, I thought I’d change it up from my usual chicken pad thai, and went with the beef pad thai. The pad thai was delicious and if you’ve read this blog before, you know delicious pad thai to me means not too much egg, and a good amount of tofu.
My one issue with Peep though is the service leaves a bit to be desired. Now, I’ve been there more than 3 times, so I can honestly say this isn’t a one time only thing. The appetizers are usually plopped on the table and after you get your food, don’t expect to see your server again. If you decide to do takeout and plan on picking it up at the restaurant, the host always looks confused and crazed when you ask him where your order is. If you are fine though without having servers cater to your every move and just want a cheap Thai special, Peep is your place.
