Eating Event! Shecky’s Toasts & Tastings!

Caryn and I went to a Shecky’s Girls Night Out event a few months back, and they are throwing an event next week that really tickles my fancy.  Shecky’s Toasts & Tastings is an event that brings together two of my favorite things – food and wine.  This event will be held here in New York at the Altman Building (on W. 18th between 6th and 7th) on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 10 and 11, from 5-10 pm.

This event promises you’ll enjoy more than 30 foods, wines, cheeses and desserts.  For those who like to cook, you’ll also be handed various recipes from some top chefs.  If you are like me and enjoy wine but know nothing about it, you may be interested in the 25-minute wine class that is included with the price of your ticket.  You can choose between a red or white wine tasting class (I’d pick white).

Normally tickets are $45, but now through Friday, you can scoop up tickets for $35.  Simply use the code SHECKYS to save $10!  Click here to purchase your tickets.

Wow just got home from this event. I am still shocked by how horrible it was. There were hardly any samples and I was actually told by a cupcake vendor that she had to start charging $1 for a mini cupcakes because she was running low on samples. I was really looking forward to the wine tasting event. We signed up for the 7:30 white wine tasting, however when we got on line we were told it was over booked and we would have to wait until the 8:00 red wine tasting. The tastings were also running 30 mins behind. We actual got into a tasting at 8:45. We were told we would receive free tickets to the next Shecky event, however my friends said they will not waste their time. We ended up spending more for parking because we had to wait around for the tasting. I read reviews from the first night that all said to stay away, but I went becuase I thought the problerms would have been straigntened out. I guess they were not.
