We were recently contacted by one of the founders of Neighborhood Eats – consider it the Valpak of restaurants and bars, but it’s even better. Each booklet is jam packed with coupons to local restaurants and bars, promising you BOGO drinks or a free dessert with an entree purchase, etc. On top of the coupons being tailored to my liking (food and drinks), the coupons are valid until March 31, 2011, giving me plenty of time to test out all of my neighborhood gems.
What’s really special about Neighborhood Eats is that it gives a portion of its proceeds to their favorite charity: City Critters, an all volunteer animal charity based out of Murray Hill that works without a physical shelter, yet places hundreds of sick and abandoned cats and dogs in loving homes every year.
Right now the first and only Neighborhood Eats booklet focuses entirely on Murray Hill/Kips Bay, covering 1st Avenue – 5th Avenue and 23rd St – 42nd St, and it contains more than $1,000 worth of discounts. They’re working on creating similar booklets for other neighborhoods in the city, so stay tuned for updates on that front. As a loyal reader of 89th and Broke, we are happy to offer you a discount on your book of discounts (sounds perfect, right?). Usually the Neighborhood Eats booklet is $39.95, but you can purchase it for $19.97 by entering this coupon code: 89vip.
Want to get a taste of the savings you’ll relish if you buy the Neighborhood Eats booklet? Think:
- Free pitcher of sangria with $20 food purchase at Casaville
- Free draft beer at Failte Irish Whiskey Bar
- Free chocolate fondue with any purchase at PS 450
- BOGO cocktails and entrees at Moco
And there’s plenty more where those come from! Of course it should go without saying, but just so we’re clear, you can only use each coupon one time. But it’s still a great way to try new places in Murray Hill and help out City Critters, so go ahead and grab a copy of Neighborhood Eats!
