Do you have what it takes to Live Off Groupon for one year?
Groupon has a new PR tactic that’s generating a lot of buzz – they’re recruiting one person to live entirely off of Groupons for one year, and if you do it they’ll pay you $100,000. That’s right, break your lease, close your bank account and store your belongings, because all you get to survive is an unlimited amount of Groupons and a laptop, camera and cell phone. Now they’re not evil-doers at Groupon, so you can have health insurance but it sounds like you’ll need to pay for it out of pocket because, oh yeah, you have to quit your job too.
I love a good deal and a good challenge, but this takes both to a whole new level. To make it through without cheating, you’ll obviously need to be resourceful, adventurous and have a good personality to keep people watching as you blog and record your experiences over 365 days of extreme frugality. They promise to work out a few kinks in your favor, but one question that I do have is how do you get to use Groupons without any money at all? All the Groupons I’ve seen require an initial investment. I’m sure they have the answer to that question and any others you have. Interested? You can submit an application here until February 24th.
