89th And Broke

I'm a young professional living in Astoria (formerly of Williamsburg, the UES and Murray Hill - I move a lot!). I'm always looking for something fun to do or the best place to grab a drink and dinner at an affordable price around the city. Have a suggestion? Email me at Laura AT 89thandbroke DOT com.

Deal Alert! Super Bowl Sunday Specials!

Naturally nearly every bar in town is touting some special to attract the crowds this Sunday. You’ll be able to find $4 pints, half-priced drinks, etc., just about anywhere. However, we noticed a few deals that seemed to be particularly good if you’re planning on kicking back a bunch of beers and eating some food along the way.

  • Saloon – Upper East Side – Open bar and light buffet for $40 for the duration of the game.
  • Public House – Murray Hill/Midtown East – $40 for AYCD Bud and Bud Light and AYCE wings.
  • Slattery’s Midtown Pub – Midtown – $45 for your food and beverages through the game.
*Note: Since posting, we’ve received word of two other good Super Bowl specials:
  • As Dory commented, Mad River on the Upper East Side is offering unlimited top shelf booze and wings plus two appetizers for only $40. This deal starts at 6 pm and lasts for the duration of the game.
  • Delmonico’s in the Financial District will be open this Sunday (typically closed) for Super Bowl celebrations. Starting at 5 pm you can buy their buttermilk fried chicken and twice fried french fries while you watch the game. The deal part is that from 5:30-6:30 you can eat the chicken and french fries for free while drinking complimentary Stella Artois.

Our advice is to either A) call up ahead of time to make a RSVP for the big game day or at the very least, B) show up nice and early to be sure that you can score a seat/table. For other Super Bowl deals, check out Murph Guide.
