Editor’s note: We love Blockheads and have written about it as a lunch and dinner spot. Want to know though what goes on at brunch? Keep reading!
I’m extremely anal (I know, bad word to use in a blog about food) when it comes to eating breakfast foods for breakfast. I’ve never been one of those people who can roll out of bed in the morning and start munching on last night’s leftovers. So when my friends invited me to go to Blockheads for brunch I almost turned them down. Then they told me it was a $10.95 brunch with unlimited mimosas. I was in.
However I ate breakfast beforehand because the thought of stomaching an scrambled egg enchilada first
thing in the morning made me sick. Turns out that was a big mistake. Their breakfast menu was amazing. I got Huevos Rancheros, basically fried eggs smothered in cheese and beans. My friends ordered an assortment of Mexican-inspired breakfast dishes and everything tasted great. So turns out I was kinda wrong about breakfast at Blockheads.
Not only was the food surprisingly good, but the mimosas really were free flowing. Every time I took a sip someone came out of nowhere and refilled my glass. While I have no idea how many glasses I actually had, I do know that standing upright at the end of the meal was quite the challenge. Drunk on a Sunday while the sun was still out…not too shabby.
The Basics Name: Blockheads Location: All over NYC Who to take: Friends Price: Make it a cheap date. $. Overall: Incredible value. 5 stars.
