While I sometimes wonder if Restaurant Week is truly a deal, I’m a sucker for it. There’s nothing I love more than scouring over menus, picking out places to eat and enjoying a 3-course meal.
Tomorrow, January 12, reservations will open for Restaurant Week. This year, Restaurant Week will be held from January 25-February 7. While I am a tad disappointed that these weeks don’t include MLK Day, as I used to love going out for lunch on the holiday when I had the day off, it’s great that Restaurant Week is now including weekends.
Not sure where to go? Check out some of the hits and misses:
Good experiences:
- Vento
- Delmonico’s
- Park Avenue Winter (best experience ever)
- Primehouse
- One If By Land, Two If By Sea (one of the most romantic restaurants in the city, I may have gone with a girlfriend)
- The Water Club
- Ilili (although I loved it the first time, second time not so great)
- Atlantic Grill
- Spice Market

FYI, not all restaurants have weekend lunch though.
do you have the lunch menu for Park avenue winter? Thanks.
Kim, I don’t have the menu for Park Ave Winter unfortunately. I remember eating a calamari salad, and a really delicious gelato dessert (this was back in ’08).
While some restaurants aren’t available on the weekends, it’s great to see some include the offering to the dinner menu – for example, Park Ave Winter. I’ll be there on January 28!
Likes:
- Maloney and Porcelli (part of the Smith and Wollensky steakhouses)
- Blue Water Grill
- The Post House (also part of the Smith and Wollensky steakhouses)
Dislikes:
- Oceana – what a waste! although things could be different now that they have a new spot.
Looks like Park Ave Winter is only serving dinner on Sundays? But it also appears that the lunch and dinner menus are exactly the same..
Jeff, I spoke with someone this morning and she said they are doing dinner Sunday – Friday. According to NYCGO.com, they are also doing dinner: http://www.nycgo.com/restaurantweek/firstlove
Laura — ah, I guess their pdf menu is wrong, as it says Sunday Dinner only. It still seems like its the same exact menu for lunch and dinner though:

I’ve already booked the first Friday at the Modern. Debating between Park Ave and Primehouse for the last Friday, what do you think? I’d feel a bit ripped off if the dinner and lunch menus were exactly the same except for the price.
Just spoke with Ryan at Park Ave Winter (yes you all think I’m nuts probably) – he confirmed that it is available Monday – Friday lunch and dinner. Sunday dinner is stressed on the menu because they didn’t want people to think this was available for brunch.
I liked Primehouse, but it was a typical steak restaurant. My vote is for Park Ave Winter.
Cool, thanks for doing all the legwork! Park Ave Winter definitely looked more interesting to me, I guess i’ll suck up the price difference since I ‘d prefer to go during dinner time.
Feel free to call and ask too! The more confirmations I have that I’m getting a $35 meal, the better! I explained their menu was confusing.
Would you suggest A Voce or Park Avenue Winter for lunch? Thanks.
Hmm I’ve never been to A Voce, so unfortunately, I’m not sure. According to A Voce’s Web site, they do have a price fixed lunch menu all the time though. Maybe I’m misunderstanding it, but you may want to call and check. http://www.avocerestaurant.com/avoce_madison.html#/menus/
Booked Park Avenue Winter, One if by Land, Two if by Sea, The Post House, and The Modern so far…went a little crazy.
@ Laura,
But I don’t think A Voce Columbus offers prix fixe.
Kim, they offer prix fixe lunch and dinner at Columbus http://www.avocerestaurant.com/avoce_columbus.html#/menus/
Which menu excites you more – Park Ave or A Voce?
Thanks Laura. Their prix fixe ($29) is more expensive than RW. I’m don’t know…I’m confused…Heard the pasta is great at A Voce…What would you choose?
Kim – just realized I forgot to reply! Which did you end up choosing? I’m not a huge pasta fan so my vote would be PAW.
