Best Bagels in Manhattan?

Guest post by Jenni Maier, Editor of the Post Grad blog

There’s nothing like an amazing bagel after a long weekend of bar-hopping and drinking. So no matter how bad my hangover is or how tired I am, I always drag myself out of bed on Sundays to go to Ess-a-Bagel. It is by far the best bagel I’ve ever had in Manhattan (but to be fair I’ve never had H&H).

Unlike standard bagel places which offer the basic cream cheese options, Ess-a-Bagel offers over 15 different types of cream cheese. So far my favorite combination have been a sesame bagel with herb cream cheese and lox ($10) and a cinnamon raisin bagel with berry berry cream cheese ($4).

Like all great breakfast places in NY, be prepared to wait on a long line if you go on the weekends. Take the time in line to figure out exactly what you want because as soon as you get to the front they’ll expect you to tell them instantaneously what you’re ordering.

The Basics
Name: Ess-a-Bagel
Location: 831 3rd Ave (between 50th and 51st) or 359 1st Ave (between 21st and 22nd)
Who to bring: Anyone
Price: A little on the pricier side for bagels, but doesn’t break the bank $
Overall:  It’s my go to spot.  5 stars.
