I haven’t seen someone butcher noodle dishes this bad since my days at the college mac and cheese trough.
We ordered take out from Land Northeast Thai on 81st and 2nd ave last Saturday night and it was atrocious. The pad thai was dryer than sandpaper, and the drunken noodles had the wrong noodles (wheat spaghetti instead of broad flat noodles). The place even had an advantage as I hadn’t eaten all day, so if the food had been halfway decent, I would’ve thought it was great in my nourishment deprived state.
The chicken curry puff appetizer was the lone redeeming quality of this disappointing meal. I think I’m going to stop experimenting with Thai places on the UES and stick with Sala Thai on 89th and 2nd.
The Basics Name: Land Northeast Thai Location: 1565 2nd Ave (between 81st and 82nd) Who to bring: Nobody, cause you’re not going Price: Typical NYC. $$. Overall: I’d rather starve. 1 star.

Get a review up of Sala Thai…I’m curious now.
Perhaps this blog should be renamed 89th and Thai.
